Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Backend Developer specializing in the MERN stack with hands-on experience in Epic Systems and Mirth Connect to join our team. As a backend developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend solutions to support healthcare applications, ensuring seamless integration with clinical data from Epic and other healthcare systems via Mirth Connect.
Key Responsibilities:
Ā Backend Development:
Ā Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services and APIs using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).
Ā Epic Integration:
Ā Integrate and manage data exchange between the backend system and Epic EMR/EHR systems using APIs such as FHIR and HL7.
Ā Mirth Connect:
Ā Develop, configure, and manage interfaces using Mirth Connect to ensure seamless data integration and interoperability between different healthcare systems.
Ā API Development and Management:
Ā Build secure... and efficient APIs to handle requests from front-end applications, external systems, and third-party services.
Ā Database Management:
Ā Design, implement, and optimize database schemas in MongoDB, ensuring scalability and performance.
Ā Security and Compliance:
Ā Ensure that all backend solutions comply with healthcare data privacy standards, including HIPAA and FHIR. Implement secure coding practices and ensure the protection of sensitive healthcare data.
Ā Testing and Debugging:
Ā Write unit, integration, and performance tests for backend components and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Ā Collaboration:
Ā Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams (QA, PM) to deliver seamless healthcare solutions. Collaborate with clinical and technical stakeholders to understand data integration requirements.
Qualifications:
Ā MERN Stack Proficiency:
Ā Extensive experience in backend development using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. Proficiency with React.js for frontend integration is a plus.
Ā Epic Systems Expertise:
Ā Experience working with Epic EMR/EHR systems. Knowledge of healthcare data exchange protocols (HL7, FHIR) and Epic APIs is essential.
Ā Mirth Connect Experience:
Ā Proven experience with Mirth Connect for building and managing healthcare interfaces, including data mapping, transformations, and routing.
Ā Healthcare IT Knowledge:
Ā Solid understanding of healthcare IT environments, including EMR/EHR systems, interoperability standards, and healthcare data privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
Ā API Development:
Ā Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and working with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2.0, JWT, etc.
Ā Database Management:
Ā Strong experience with MongoDB and familiarity with database design, optimization, and scalability.
Ā Testing and Debugging:
Ā Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or similar tools for backend testing.
Ā Version Control & Deployment:
Ā Experience with version control systems like Git and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment strategies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Skills:
Ā Experience working in healthcare IT projects or companies.
Ā Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
