AWS/Azure Cloud Security Architect | Maveris | Remote (United States)

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent AWS/Azure Cloud Security Architect to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer. The AWS/Azure Cloud Security Architect will support the Department of Veterans Affairs by providing technical and programmatic support services to include development, maintenance, enterprise architecture, and administrative engineering support. Duties As an AWS/Azure Cloud Security Architect supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to lead the delivery of a Federal Agency’s Enterprise Security Architecture and Strategy. In this role, a typical day will include: • Develop and implement security architectures for AWS and/or Azure cloud environments, focusing on network security, identity and access management, and data protection. • Provide thought leadership for new techniques and design patterns related to Enterprise Cloud Security Architecture. • Design and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. • Perform risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations to identify and address potential security risks. • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security controls into the cloud infrastructure and development processes. • Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and breaches, providing root cause analysis and remediation strategies. • Stay updated on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to continually enhance our cloud security measures. • Collaborate with programs across the VA increase the VA’s Cloud Security posture. • Provide expertise and training to internal teams on cloud security best practices and emerging threats. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information System Architecture, Telecommunication System, Design or related discipline • 10 years of relevant experience • Proven experience as a Cloud Security Architect or in a similar role, with a strong focus on AWS and/or Azure environments • Proficiency with security services and features in AWS (e.g., IAM, VPC, Security Groups, CloudTrail) and Azure (e.g., Azure Active Directory, Network Security Groups, Azure Security Center) • Deep understanding of security frameworks and standards such as NIST, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, and CIS Benchmarks • Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies for threat detection, intrusion prevention, and vulnerability management • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex security challenges Benefits Maveris attracts and retains talent of the highest caliber by offering opportunities to work in exciting and challenging environments surrounded by bright minds.
