Role: AWS Cloud Engineer - AWS Compute / AMI / EC2 Platform Engineering
Location: Remote, Detroit MI
Duration: 6 - 12 months contract
Pay rate: $65-75/hour on W2, Client will not consider C2C
Job overview:
The AWS Cloud Engineering III role is a hands-on technical position focused on day-to-day cloud platform operations including AWS account lifecycle management, infrastructure provisioning, compute pipeline management, security controls enforcement, and operational support.
Must Have
ā¢ AWS EC2 architecture including instance types, placement groups, and Auto Scaling Group lifecycle management
ā¢ Cloud security controls: encryption, network isolation, identity management, policy enforcement
ā¢ EBS volume management, encryption enforcement, and snapshot lifecycle
ā¢ EC2 Image Builder pipelines ā recipe configuration, component authoring, image testing, and cross-account AMI distribution
ā¢ Golden AMI lifecycle management: base image selection, CIS benchmark hardening, security agent integration (endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning), and automated image rotation/deprecation
ā¢ Infrastructure as Code principles and Terraform lifecycle management
ā¢ Launch template and Auto Scaling Group integration with AMI pipelines for fleet-wide image updates
ā¢ Linux/macOS command-line proficiency
ā¢ Proficiency in Python, Bash/Shell scripting
ā¢ Understanding of OS hardening standards (CIS Benchmarks), patch management, and image compliance
