AWS Cloud Architect

Duration: 8–10 Weeks | Schedule: Full-Time | Location: Remote Pay Rate: $60–$65/hour | Min. Experience: 10+ Years | Min. Education: Bachelor's Degree Overview ForwardIT is seeking a senior AWS Cloud Architect to lead the design and deployment of a secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting a federal AI solution. This is a fully remote, full-time subcontract engagement lasting 8–10 weeks. Candidates must be available for brief daily check-ins during core business hours; all remaining work is schedule-flexible. Federal contracting experience is strongly preferred. Responsibilities • Design secure, scalable AWS cloud architecture to support AI/ML solution deployment in a federal production environment • Configure and implement AWS services including Lambda, Bedrock, and Lex in alignment with agency technical standards • Implement cloud security controls aligned with FedRAMP Moderate requirements and NIST 800-53 • Ensure high availability, performance optimization, and infrastructure resilience supporting production operations • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, DevSecOps, and integration engineers throughout the deployment lifecycle • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK Required Qualifications • 10+ years of AWS cloud architecture experience • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying cloud environments for federal agencies • Deep expertise with core AWS services and AI/ML-related services (Lambda, Bedrock, Lex, SageMaker, etc.) • Strong knowledge of FedRAMP Moderate and NIST 800-53 security controls • Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) • Bachelor's Degree required; AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification strongly preferred Preferred Qualifications • Experience working within GovCloud or FedRAMP High environments • Familiarity with ATO documentation and evidence collection processes • Zero Trust Architecture experience • Federal subcontracting or prime contractor experience Job Type: Full-time Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
