The Audit Manager role involves conducting audit engagements, providing independent assurance on internal controls, and acting as a trusted advisor to business groups, while supporting the development of annual audit plans.ResponsibilitiesConduct audit engagements to critically assess management and internal control processesReport on audits to provide clear, concise insights on issues and potential issues to assist management in fulfilling mandatesProvide independent assurance on the quality and effectiveness of internal control, risk management, and governance systems and processes to support senior management and the Board in protecting BMO and its reputationAct as a trusted advisor to assigned business/groupInfluence and negotiate to achieve business objectivesIdentify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-makingProvide critical input to Chief Auditor/Assistant Chief Auditor on the practical aspects of the audit and its executionHelp to develop annual audit planProvide input into Corporate Audit processes identifying opportunities to simplifyExecute audits in full recognition of the risks of the group that encompass the inherent risks, control risks and internal/external environment and regulatory risksConduct advisory engagements and other engagements as requiredDetermine impact of changing strategies, tactics, risks and initiatives on audit, advisory and investigative servicesIdentify and evaluate the impact of new and emerging technology and technology risk on the organization’s processes and control environmentUtilize data analytics in advisory engagements to improve quality and efficienciesDevelop an awareness of business strategies, policies and standards providing meaningful insights based upon knowledge and research which will continue to improve the Enterprise management and control processesMaintain the independence of the audit practice and its personnelDevelop insightful discussion points contributing to audit reports that provides fair and balanced assessment of governance, risk and control processes based on audit work performedIdentify control deficiencies and provide a fair and balanced assessment of their magnitudeMaintain working knowledge of the industry, regulatory, broad economic environment, and internal environment, as to the development of new strategies and plans, opportunities and risk, to obtain an understanding of the control environmentEnsure that all audit procedures executed are conducted in accordance to Corporate Audit Methodology as confirmed by its Quality Assurance program and/or regulatory examination resultsApply sound judgement in the execution of the assigned work and ensure open lines of communicationDevelop and maintain good working relations with key stakeholdersActively monitor change management initiatives and identify potential risksActively participate and support Corporate Audit change initiativesMaintain and enhance professional audit qualifications in line with industry standardsFocus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focusProvide specialized consulting, analytical and technical supportExercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rulesWork independently and regularly handle non-routine situationsSkillsTypically between 1-5 years of relevant audit experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experienceProfessional designations or business designation - CPA and a CIA would be a bonusVerbal & written communication skills - In-depthCollaboration & team skills - In-depthAnalytical and problem solving skills - In-depthInfluence skills - In-depthData driven decision making - In-depthBenefitsHealth insuranceTuition reimbursementAccident and life insuranceRetirement savings plansCompany OverviewWe’re a bank, but there’s more to it than that. ​ When you join BMO, it opens a world of opportunities.
