Associate Reinsurance Underwriter

The role focuses on managing the profitability of reinsurance portfolios, conducting risk assessments, and developing insights on trends impacting performance.ResponsibilitiesAssessing the risk of original policies and evaluating their impact on reinsurance portfoliosAnalyzing the terms and conditions of reinsurance contracts and products to determine the impact on reinsurance underwriting decisionsBuilding a close relationship with clients, developing a deep understanding of their portfolios, and providing guidance acceptability of risks, and treaty termsAssisting in the preparation for and conducting reinsurance underwriting reviewsDeveloping relationships with other departments to respond to clients’ reinsurance needs by analyzing data and insurance marketsReviewing and reporting inconsistencies in reinsurance bordereau reports, referrals, and special acceptance requestsDeveloping an understanding of treaty and facultative underwriting resultsDeveloping innovative methods to gain actionable insights from reinsurance portfolios, enabling better risk management decisionsContributing to the achievement of departmental and organizational goals and other projectsSkillsBachelor's degree required; degree in insurance, risk management, finance, or business preferredStrong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities often under tight deadlinesAbility to collaborate and work successfully in a team environmentStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; along with the ability to build and develop professional relationshipsProficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially ExcelPrior work or internship experience in insurance, finance, or customer service preferredFoundational knowledge of insurance concepts and industry practices is a plusBenefitsAnnual bonusCompany OverviewAmerican Agricultural Insurance Company (AmericanAg®) stands out from the marketplace as a provider of reinsurance services across the insurance spectrum with a growing global presence.
