Associate Payroll Tax Accountant - Entry Level
About the position
The position involves preparing company payroll tax returns by examining accounts and computing tax returns according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations. Responsibilities include analyzing payment records, adhering to due date requirements, and communicating tax law changes to system administrators. The role also requires responding timely to tax notices, preparing tax registration forms, and handling business transfer paperwork for mergers and acquisitions. Additional tasks include writing letters of abatement or contacting taxing authorities, tracking and collecting refunds from jurisdictions, and participating in process improvements. The candidate will work independently or as part of a team and may be assigned additional responsibilities and special projects.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience

Ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced high-volume industry
,
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
,
Strong analytical skills
,
Ability to understand tax laws related to payroll tax filings
,
Proficiency with Excel
,
Ability to work overtime as needed
Nice-to-haves
Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Experience in payroll and/or payroll tax preparation

Experience with other software such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Access, and payroll tax research tools such as CCH
