Assistant or Associate Digital Media Producer - Gies College of Business
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking an Assistant or Associate Digital Media Producer for their Gies College of Business. This role involves collaborating with faculty to create high-quality media content for online courses, overseeing various phases of video production, and contributing to instructional media design and development.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate instructional media design projects from inception to completion and maintain a large volume of media files and project tracking documentsCollaborate with faculty and Digital Media team members on storyboards, scripts, PowerPoint slides/Edit Decision Lists (multi-column scripts), and planning documents to facilitate effective integration of online learning contentOffer video-driven creative design suggestions that are part of the collaborative development of the course’s curriculum plan and syllabusServe as co-producer on standard Teaching & Learning development projects, including new course development, course redesign, and curation of existing contentComplete post-production editing: Compiling raw footage and visuals into polished video drafts, and incorporate feedback from faculty, Learning Designers, and Quality Control staff to refine drafts into final video deliverables. Provide faculty with basic consultation and support around faculty-generated content such as home studio setups, simple field recordings, and basic video editing softwareFollow course production schedules and deadlines set by development sub-unit and/or other members of leadership. Provide regular progress updates to direct supervisor; alert direct supervisor, Project Manager, and relevant sub-unit members of any anticipated or realized delays in productionAttend and contribute to standing team and project status meetingsParticipate in professional developmentOther duties as assignedCoordinate instructional media design projects from inception to completion, and maintain a large volume of media files and project tracking documentsResponsible for the coordination between media production and instructional designCollaborate with faculty and Digital Media team members on storyboards, scripts, PowerPoint slides/Edit Decision Lists (multi-column scripts), and planning documents to facilitate effective integration of online learning contentOffer video-driven creative design suggestions that are part of the collaborative development of the course’s curriculum plan and syllabusServe as lead producer or co-producer on standard or moderately complex Teaching & Learning development projects, including new course development, course redesign, and curation of existing contentComplete post-production editing: Compiling raw footage and visuals into polished video drafts, and incorporate feedback from faculty, Learning Designers, and Quality Control staff to refine drafts into final video deliverablesProvide faculty with comprehensive consultation and support around faculty-generated content such as home studio setups, simple field recordings, self-service studio training, and basic through intermediate video editing softwareOnboard and train new hourly Digital Media staffAssist and provide feedback on the development and maintenance of internal and external process documentationDevelop and maintain documentation related to faculty self-recording and self-publishing of media contentFollow course production schedules and deadlines set by development sub-unit and/or other members of leadership. Provide regular progress updates to direct supervisor; alert direct supervisor, Project Manager, and relevant sub-unit members of any anticipated or realized delays in productionAttend and contribute to standing team and project status meetingsParticipate in professional developmentOther duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the positionOne (1) year (12 months) of experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional areaDemonstrated experience with non-linear video editing softwareDemonstrated experience with video recording hardware and workflows, including camera setup and audio recordingTwo (2) years (24 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional areaDemonstrated experience developing video lectures/courses in a higher education settingDemonstrated experience with non-linear video editing softwareDemonstrated experience with video recording hardware and workflows, including camera setup, lighting placement, and audio recordingDemonstrated experience still and motion graphics manipulation, including PowerPointPosition involves frequently moving and placing boxes that weigh more than 50 lbsField recordings and occasional live events may require the ability to stand and move around for extended periods of timeMaster's degree in media production or a related fieldSolid understanding of safety practices related to setting up cameras, lights, and other video production gear.
