Assistant Merchant, Merchandising, Makeup
About the position
As Assistant Merchant, Merchandising, you’ll support the development and execution of brand assortments that come to life across Sephora stores and digital channels. The work you do will impact beauty, as you help shape product strategies, manage brand relationships, and ensure launches are executed on time and with intention. You’ll be part of a team that’s united in beauty, supported by partners who are equally passionate about building brands, driving performance, and delivering compelling product stories to our clients.
Responsibilities
• Support the Merchant in managing brand assortments for Sephora stores, including timelines, visual merchandising needs, and launch readiness
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners and external brand stakeholders through consistent communication and follow-up
• Assist in the development and execution of brand and product strategies, including product pipelines and seasonal assortments
• Partner cross-functionally with teams such as Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Planning, and Supply Chain to support successful product launches
• Prepare regular reports and assist with analyzing business performance, sales trends, and category insights
• Help track product performance and flag opportunities, risks, and follow-ups for the Merchant team
• Support day-to-day operational needs, including meeting preparation, timelines, and project coordination
• Contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative merchandising environment while balancing multiple priorities
Requirements
• 2–3 years of retail buying or merchandising experience, ideally at a major retailer
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and merchandising systems
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and with external partners
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage timelines, and meet deadlines
• Analytical mindset with comfort working with reports and business data
• Proven ability to problem-solve, negotiate, and influence in a collaborative setting
• Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with the ability to be in the office two days per week and travel as needed
