Job Summary

Working under supervision of the Director of Policy, the Assistant I – Social Policy, will complete ongoing research and department related tasks. The Assistant I – Social Policy provide consistent and high-quality service and contribute to the proper stewardship of resources to help ensure operational effectiveness in support of high-quality programming.



Roles and Key Responsibilities

Primary:

Conduct literature reviews on social protection.

Summarize definitions and concepts from major institutions (donors, UN, INGOs, multilaterals).

Support analysis of policy directions in humanitarian and development contexts.

Assist in mapping institutional actors and emerging stakeholders.

Compile CRS survey results to highlight engagement and programming trends.

Support limited key informant interviews (external experts, CRS staff).

Document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.

Contribute to drafting a synthesis report (15–20 pages).



Ad Hoc:

Conduct background research and prepare briefing notes.

Draft short internal memos or summaries.

Support ongoing policy analysis and internal discussions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with typing/word processing, data entry into online databases and forms, and working with various office equipment.

Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems.

Strong research, analytical, and writing skills

Demonstrated interest in social protection, humanitarian policy, or development policy


Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
