We schedule to your area(s) of interest. For Math tutors: Strong proficiency through Algebra 2 (Education Degree not required). For TestPrep (ACT/SAT) Tutor: Strong ACT/SAT score (30/1400 preferred). Education Degree not required. 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred. Ability to make connections with students. Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Working out of one of our locations in Lake Zurich/Barrington or Schaumburg. Skills and Qualities necessary: Teach using Sylvan based programs Direct and motivate students during instruction Reward students for successful work Evaluate and document student progress Communicate student needs to our Educational Team Develop rapport with students and establish a fun, engaging learning environment Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan Sylvan Learning Centers are the industry leaders in providing supplemental education to children in pre-K through 12th grade. We provide individualized instruction in Comprehension, Reading, English, Writing, Math and Study Skills. We also offer ACT/SAT Test Prep and STEM. We teach 7 days per week and require our teachers to work at least one of Saturday/Sunday, and at least one day during the week. We have extended teaching opportunities in the summer.
