They are seeking an Applications Engineer-I to conduct technical activities related to solutions engineering and customer support, working closely with customers and the Sales team to drive product development and support system integration duties.ResponsibilitiesDesign and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problemsDefine new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field trials for new product features and accessoriesProvide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in personParticipate in an off-hour, on-call support rotation (on a voluntary or scheduled basis as business needs require) to address critical customer escalationsWork individually and with Engineering teams to support requests via in-house or through field testing and validationTest and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applicationsSupport the Sales Engineering team by helping prepare for demonstrations, training, testing, or recreating bugs and issues seen in the fieldCreate and maintain customer-facing documents and content including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc. to support customers and sales more efficientlyOversee and assist the RMA and Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requestsTravel requirements – Up to 25% travel to provide in-person engineering support to customers and the sales team, including demos, troubleshooting, system integration, and trainingPerform other related duties, of which the above are representativeSkillsBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical fieldProficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio frequency and data network test equipment and testingMust possess an ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customersStrong verbal and written communication skills are a must to effectively communicate with customers and internally across the entire organizationExcellent organizational skills and attentiveness to detailsProficiency with PC office applications and mobile devicesWillingness to travel and work at customer sitesMust be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contractsAll employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug testProficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networkingExperience with operating and testing IP radios/modemsKnowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologiesExperience with testing embedded radio communication systemsFamiliarity with LinuxProficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++BenefitsIncentive Bonus PlansMedical, Dental, Vision benefits401K with Company Match10 Paid HolidaysGenerous Paid Time Off PackagesEmployee Stock Purchase PlanPaid Parental & Family LeaveAnd more!Company OverviewMotorola Solutions creates mission-critical communication solutions and services for public safety and commercial customers.
