Answering Service Responder – Level I (Remote)

Position Summary

Our office needs a reliable and talented Answering Service Responder. Your work as an operator will make a real difference as you provide assistance to various clients during emergency situations.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting activities related to emergency response and/or incident management. This position requires professional demeanor and strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for a self-motivated, responsible, and confident individual with a commitment to integrity and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with minimal supervision.

Position Details
β€’ Reports to: After-Hours Service Manager
β€’ Location: Remote - Ogden, Utah (Candidate must be willing to be in office for 2-3 weeks for training.)
β€’ Position Type: Full-Time
β€’ FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
β€’ Pay: Hourly
β€’ Compensation: Commensurate with Experience
β€’ Shift: Must be available to work rotating shifts to include overnight

Essential Functions
β€’ Answer incoming calls and emails in a timely, professional, and courteous manner
β€’ Capable of answering calls regarding emergency fuel deliveries, appliance repairs, or safety issues, such as gas leaks
β€’ Represent clients serving as their emergency call center
β€’ Dispatch emergency calls to clients on call personnel
β€’ Must be capable of gathering and transcribing information with speed and accuracy
β€’ Receive incident and/or Emergency calls from 911 dispatch
β€’ Ability to remain calm, courteous, and confident when answering a distress call
β€’ Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements
β€’ High School Diploma or equivalent
β€’ Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office products specifically Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
β€’ Intermediate level computer literacy supporting a variety of software platforms
β€’ Must be capable of typing 30+ WPM
β€’ Punctual and dependable with the ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-demand (during emergencies)
β€’ Adaptable and patient with the ability to remain calm and professional during times of heightened activity, uncertainty, ambiguity, rapid change, and fixed deadlines

Ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
β€’ Ability to triage complex situations and effectively transcribe information accurately
β€’ Ability to remain patient to professionally support international callers where English is not their primary language
β€’ Capable of following a procedure and executing tasks as outlined within a procedure
β€’ Must have basic computer skills and be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Job Requirements
β€’ Previous experience in emergency response, incident management, and / or law enforcement or security
β€’ 2-5 years in a prior incident/emergency dispatch role; preferably in emergency dispatch or hazardous notification center
