Ansible Consultant

A client of Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant specializing in Red Hat Ansible to join our dynamic team. This role requires deep expertise in Ansible Core content creation, including the ability to write, test, and troubleshoot complex playbooks for configuration management, application deployment, and task automation. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of Ansible concepts, such as idempotency, agentless architecture, and the interplay between modules, playbooks, collections, and inventories. They should be adept at structuring automation using roles, managing data with variables and facts, handling secrets and templates, and ensuring secure and efficient deployments. A strong background in infrastructure automation is essential, with hands-on experience automating virtual machines, cloud instances, and containers. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate a broad grasp of general automation principles, including workflow orchestration, exception handling, data integration, scalability, and modular design. Familiarity with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) is a plus, particularly in areas such as job scheduling, GUI dashboards, access control, and workflow management.

Required Skills & Experience

5-7+ years of direct and extensive Ansible experience with expertise in the following areas:
• Ansible Core Content Creation: Experience in actually creating content for Ansible
Core. Ability to write, test, and troubleshoot complex Ansible playbooks for
configuration management, application deployment, and task automation.
• Ansible Concept Understanding: A thorough understanding of the concepts of
Ansible. Understanding Ansible concepts means grasping its core principles like
idempotency, agentless architecture, and how components such as modules, playbooks,
collections and inventories function together. It involves knowing how to structure
automation using roles, manage data with variables, facts, use of repositories, manage
secrets and templates, and effectively troubleshoot and secure deployments.
• Infrastructure Automation Experience: Proven experience with automating
infrastructure resources. This can span for either virtual machines, cloud instances
and/or containers.
• Broad Automation Principles: Having a broad understanding of general automation
principles means grasping the fundamental concepts that apply across various
automation technologies and domains, not just Ansible. This includes knowing about
concepts like workflow orchestration, exception handling, data integration, scalability,
security considerations in automated processes, and the importance of reusability and
modularity in automation design.
• Introductory Knowledge of AAP: Familiarity with or experience using Ansible
Automation Platform for job scheduling, GUI dashboards, access control, and workflow
management. Does not have to be extensive.
