About the position
Baptist Health Information Services is looking for an Enterprise Automation Engineer to join its Digital Cloud Development Operations team. We are seeking a skilled infrastructure and cloud professional with strong engineering expertise across Microsoft Azure and enterprise systems to help drive resiliency, observability, reliability, and scalability. As an Enterprise Automation Engineer at Baptist Health, you will collaborate across engineering, support, and product teams to improve infrastructure health, reduce manual effort, and increase the consistency and performance of services delivered to the organization. Responsibilities
• Design and build infrastructure & systems that provide high levels of scalability, reliability, performance, and security across Azure and on-prem environments.
• Automate manual processes by designing and implementing end-to-end automation pipelines that reduce operational friction, eliminate repetitive tasks, and enforce consistency through Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices.
• Define and implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for all core services.
• Improve observability of all enterprise services with actionable monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools like Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and SolarWinds.
• Develop playbooks and runbooks to guide operations teams and support staff in managing infrastructure efficiently and safely.
• Partner with Digital Cloud Development Operations, Application Development, and Product teams to ensure new systems are designed for reliability and maintainability.
• Work closely with vendors and cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) to optimize infrastructure and troubleshoot escalated issues.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and execution, including High Availability design patterns (e.g., Azure availability zones, scaling groups).
• Support and mentor Tier 2 and 3 support engineers as a Tier 4 escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical services managed by the automation and infrastructure engineering team.
Requirements
• Expert level engineering skills across a broad range of technology stacks and programming languages.

• Over 5 years of Information Technology Experience Required
• Azure VMs, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts, Azure AD
• ARM templates / Bicep / Terraform
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
• Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, Git integration)
• Strong proficiency in automation and scripting using Bash, PowerShell, Python, and configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform.
• Experience with container management platforms, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Experience automating infrastructure tasks, including:
Storage provisioning workflows (e.g., Pure Storage)
Server hardware deployment and configuration (e.g., Dell platforms)
Thin client or endpoint management (e.g., IGEL OS)
• Integration experience with enterprise tools, including:
ServiceNow for ITSM workflows
SolarWinds for monitoring and alerting
Imprivata for SSO and identity services
• Experience designing for High Availability (availability zones, load balancing, failover).
• Familiarity with networking, identity management, and enterprise security practices.
• Proven track record of problem-solving and root cause analysis in large, distributed systems.
• Dedicated to continuous improvement and reducing operational friction through automation and standardization.
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
