Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Advisory Board member to join our organization’s leadership ecosystem. As an Advisory Board member, you will play a vital role in guiding our strategic direction, providing expert insights, and fostering innovative growth. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence our organization’s future trajectory while providing fundraising support to a 9/11 nonprofit focused on educating the next generation about overcoming adversity and challenge using lessons from that tragedy. Your active participation will help shape key initiatives, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and ensure we remain at the forefront of our industry. Responsibilities • Provide strategic advice and insights to executive leadership on organizational goals, industry trends, and emerging opportunities. • Assist in the development and refinement of long-term strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational values and market demands. • Offer expert guidance on governance practices, operational improvements, and risk management strategies. • Support the organization’s outreach efforts by leveraging your network to foster partnerships, collaborations, and funding opportunities. • Participate in regular advisory board meetings, contributing thoughtful perspectives and constructive feedback. • Collaborate with other board members to evaluate organizational performance metrics and recommend actionable improvements. • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, promoting its mission and enhancing its reputation within relevant communities. • Stay informed about industry developments and provide proactive advice on adapting to changing landscapes. Qualifications • Demonstrated expertise in relevant fields such as development, nonprofit management, disaster response, public safety, or other social impact sectors. • Proven experience serving on advisory boards or similar governance roles is highly desirable. • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively. • Ability to commit time for meetings, strategic planning sessions, and occasional special projects or events. • A collaborative mindset with a passion for supporting organizational growth and innovation. • Familiarity with organizational governance principles and ethical standards is preferred. • A proactive approach to problem-solving coupled with a positive attitude toward organizational development.
