About the positionResponsibilities
Provide acute outpatient orthopedic injury care to adult and pediatric patients.
Lead a small clinical team consisting of an RN and MA/cast tech.
Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments.
Document findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic labs and tests.
Form medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
Prescribe and recommend pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
Initiate appropriate specialty consultations and referrals when necessary.
Facilitate timely patient flow via collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
Recognize acute/emergent situations requiring immediate responsiveness and initiate life-saving interventions.
Advocate for patients and family members in educational needs and treatment options.
Provide consultation in specialty area and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement activities.
Engage in research and evidence-based practice to improve patient care delivery.
Requirements
Master's Degree as an Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
One to two years minimum experience as an Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred.
License or license eligible as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Current PALS/NRP certification as required specific to position.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as required.
Nice-to-haves
Experience using fluoroscopy and reading orthopedic radiographs.
