The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Utah Valley University invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate psychology courses. We seek a candidate with knowledge of psychological theories, research, and discipline-specific content who is passionate about teaching and committed to student success. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in pedagogy and instructional theories, with a strong ability, or potential, to deliver instruction across multiple modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. We value educators who are effective in the classroom, employing innovative instructional strategies and techniques that enhance student engagement and learning. The ideal candidate will be adept at teaching key skills essential to psychology and demonstrate respect in all interactions with students.

Summary of Responsibilities
• Prepare and deliver undergraduate psychology courses in accordance with department standards and course objectives.
• Utilize multiple instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Develop course materials, such as syllabi, lectures, assignments, quizzes, and exams, aligned with current psychological theories and research.
• Implement effective pedagogical strategies to promote student engagement, active learning, and critical thinking.
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback through graded assignments, discussions, and exams.
• Maintain student records, including attendance, grades, and communications, in accordance with university policy.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all students, encouraging participation and academic success.
• Be available to students via scheduled office hours, email, or other communication methods for consultation on coursework and academic progress.
• Stay current in the field of psychology and effective teaching practices through ongoing professional development.
• Comply with university and departmental policies and procedures, including those related to academic integrity, accessibility, and instructional quality.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
• Master's degree or graduate degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited institution, or current graduate student who has completed a graduate-level course in the subject they will teach.
• Requires candidates to establish residency in Utah upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications
• Completed graduate degree from an accredited and reputable program in Psychology or a closely related field. Applicants currently enrolled in such graduate programs may also be considered.

• Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas) and educational technologies.

• Strong teaching and classroom management skills in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
• Ability to design and deliver engaging course content that fosters student participation and comprehension.
• Proficiency in developing assessments that measure student learning effectively.
• Skill in adapting instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles and academic needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for lectures, feedback, and student support.
• Effective use of technology for instruction, communication, and grading.
