We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.Metabase’s BizOps & Finance team is looking to add to our team with a high-performer who can manage our accounting, external audit, tax and payments. Our bookkeeping and tax accounting are outsourced, so this will require managing and overseeing external accounting firms. Longer-term we may bring some of these functions in-house. Alongside that you will design and build-out our internal systems, processes and reporting.The role will offer significant exposure to the financial management of a rapidly growing company, and the opportunity to own and grow our accounting functions. We are a small team, so you should be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in where you are needed. Responsibilities Working with our external financial accountants, managing the month-end-close process Project-managing and liaising with our external financial auditorsWorking with our tax accountants, providing ad-hoc analysis in support of tax submissions and making sure things stay on-trackBuilding-out internal reportingDesigning and implementing financial systems and processes to improve our efficiencyOwning our payments processes, and helping team members with purchasesManaging our insurance needsGetting stuck in where neededAbout YouRock-solid quantitative skills: you produce error-free analysis and reports, and can diagnose and solve complex issues in our bookkeepingStrong organizational / project-management skillsCPA with strong knowledge of GAAPRoughly 3-5 years experience, preferably in a startup, high-growth company, or public accounting firmStrong quantitative undergraduate degreeBased in the US or CanadaLow-ego attitude: no job should be too small or too largeNice-to-have: experience with tax compliance and working with external auditorsNice-to-have: familiarity with QBO Nice-to-have: some knowledge of SQL and / or a scripting language to help automate things (e.g. python, javascript, VBA)We're a global team (50% outside the US), fully distributed (from Thailand to California), who get things done asynchronously, with plenty of uninterrupted time, supporting each other to do the best work of our careers.
