As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of the accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Responsibilities:
ā¢ Oversee daily, monthly, and annual accounting functions and transactions, including managing accounting software, payroll, cash receipts, payments, and accounting for financial assets and debts.
ā¢ Prepare and review financial reports for auditing requests and Board of Director meetings.
ā¢ Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
ā¢ Play a vital role in the life-cycle of projects, performing advanced and specialized accounting assignments involving complex and confidential data.
ā¢ Manage and ensure timely and accurate recording of accounting transactions.
ā¢ Coordinate the month-end close process, including journal entry review, reconciliation review, financial reporting, and compliance.
ā¢ Review and approve payroll, including retirement plan contributions and tax documents preparation.
ā¢ Monitor and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, inventory reporting, and depreciation schedules.
ā¢ Maintain accounting controls, improve and document accounting policies and procedures.
ā¢ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government agencies for financial reporting, annual reports, and taxes.
ā¢ Collaborate closely with the Controller on NSF audits, rate agreements, and cash management.
ā¢ Manage corporate banking and administrative services, including accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
ā¢ Serve as a back-up to the Controller and assist in system improvements and financial analysis.
ā¢ Provide leadership and supervision to assigned accounting staff, including hiring, performance appraisal, and development.
Qualifications:
ā¢ Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in accounting or related field.
ā¢ Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory role.
ā¢ Strong experience with CostPoint accounting software is a must.
ā¢ Proficiency in SAP Concur software.
ā¢ Familiarity with GAAP principles and OMB Circulars.
ā¢ Experience in government contracting or grant environment.
ā¢ Excellent knowledge of advanced accounting and budgeting principles.
ā¢ Ability to manage internal accounts, develop new processes, and implement internal controls.
ā¢ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
ā¢ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
ā¢ Detail-oriented with solid understanding of accounting concepts.
ā¢ Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suites, and accounting database systems.
ā¢ CPA certification and experience in project accounting preferred.
