This role will report to the Information Security – Security Operations team Best Egg is seeking a Security Operations Intern who is eager to contribute to a cross-functional security team and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, reporting, and vulnerability management. You can expect to work in a collaborative environment that values continuous improvement, data-driven decision making, knowledge sharing, and practical security outcomes. This role will report to the Information Security – Security Operations team You will spend most of your time Developing and maintaining security operations metrics and dashboards to improve visibility into SOC performance and support data-driven decision making Analyzing security data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, and presenting findings to the team. Supporting vulnerability management efforts by analyzing and helping drive remediation of out-of-SLA vulnerabilities across Service Desk, Infrastructure, and Product teams, improving SLA adherence and reducing risk exposure . Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand remediation challenges and help drive resolution of security findings. Contributing to the improvement of security processes, including reporting, ticket workflows, and escalation paths. Assisting in documenting and refining security runbooks and operational procedures. What you will learn How a modern Security Operations function measures effectiveness and drives improvement through metrics. How security operations aligns to business objectives and balances risk reduction with operational constraints. Real-world vulnerability management, including prioritization, risk trade-offs, and remediation workflows across different business teams. How to communicate security risk clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. How security teams partner with engineering, infrastructure, and support teams to influence outcomes. How to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements. Exposure to enterprise security tools, processes, and frameworks used in a cloud-based fintech environment. Ideal fit for the role Interest in cybersecurity, security operations, or risk management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in working with data. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable organizing information and identifying patterns or trends. Demonstrated curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and concepts. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Background in cybersecurity, information systems, computer science, or related fields (or equivalent practical interest/experience).
