During school breaks, we offer paid seasonal positions for students and recent graduates looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. These roles provide exposure to pediatric healthcare and medical practice operations, making them ideal for individuals pursuing careers in healthcare or healthcare administration. Returning Applicants: Given the length of the winter seasonal cycle, this application is open only to those who have previously worked at Capital Area Pediatrics.Those who indicate they have not previously worked for Capital Area Pedatrics will be automatically rejected. Please be aware we will be accepting a limited number of Patient Care Assistants this winter season. A maximum of two per shift, at each location, will be selected. Seasonal Patient Care Assistant (PCA) This position will provide administrative and/or basic clinical support at our clinical locations. Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Process patients during check-in and check-out. If necessary, collect insurance and registration information, as well as appointment scheduling. Greet and escort patients to the exam room, gather patient history, measure vitals, and document all information in the patient’s medical chart. Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required. Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a confidential manner. Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family. Supporting business operations through administrative projects and tasks. Time Commitment Must be available to be scheduled at least four (4) shifts per week Monday-Friday. Those who are able to work weekend and/or evening shifts in addition to AM/PM will be prioritized. Hours are not guaranteed and are based on business need. Seasonal employees are not guaranteed hours over regular staff. We will be accepting a limited number of Patient Care Assistants this winter season. A maximum of two per shift, at each location, will be selected. General Requirements Enrollment in or graduate of healthcare degree program or related field. Gap Year candidates are welcome to apply. Prior experience as a Patient Care Assistant at Capital Area Pediatrics is required. Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment. Adherence to Capital Area Pediatrics immunization and testing requirements. Ability to pass a required background screening. Must be able to follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to include maintaining patient confidentiality. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Required qualifications:
